How a Painting is Born

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

How does a blank canvas become a work of art? Check out the process behind two pieces I created this week on-site at Conestoga College campuses.

CONESTOGA COLLEGE'S URBAN ART EVENT

While talented caricature artist Cartoon Bob captured comical smiles and Makin' Faces body paint artist Tanya decorated arms and cheeks with sparkly tattoos, I created some Hilda fan art and an energetic abstract painting. All while struggling against the urge to cuddle the super cute Guide Dog puppies from Lions Foundation!

YOU HAD TO BE THERE

At the Doon Campus atrium, a couple of beatboxers raised the roof! When "Jump Around" pumped through the speakers, breakdancing appropriately "broke out." Once a pro got things started on the floor, several people took a turn kicking their best moves! "The Worm" got the most laughter and applause.

If you weren't there to see me creating the paintings live, some video footage may be made available soon. I'm currently making plans with diligent Digital Media artist (and amateur break dancer, lol) Terry Foster.

So keep your eyes on the blog! (Sign up for automatic updates by filling out the form at the bottom of this page.) Meanwhile, here are some sneak peeks!
